Paint By Number Wall Murals - Use a Coloring Book To Easily Make Your Own Paint By Number Wall Mural

Most of the time, do it yourself projects are cheaper than having them done for you, and this is one of those times. This process is so simple, it may leave you wondering why you never thought of it. Making your own paint by number wall murals is like having a great big coloring book to paint in.

Your children will 'light up' when you ask them to pick a favorite page from their coloring book because you are going to blow it up 10 times that size and paint it on their bedroom wall!

To make your own paint by number wall murals, go to any office supply store and buy one transparency pen, and one transparency film. You'll need to rent, borrow, or buy an overhead projector. Try calling a school, library, or church to borrow theirs. Many office supply stores will rent theirs out by the day, or by the hour.

Once you get your equipment together, place the transparency film over the coloring book page, and trace all of the image with the transparency pen. Now put the transparency film on the overhead projector.

Turn on and point the projector toward the wall that you want to paint. Make your paint by number wall murals as large or as small as you like by moving the projector closer or further from the wall. When you get the size just where you want it, trace the lines of the image onto the wall with a pencil.

Complete all the tracing in one sitting to lessen the chance of the projector getting moved around. It might be difficult to get the projector exactly where you had it, causing a distorted image. While tracing, it's helpful to stand back from the wall every now and then to get an overall look, to be sure you haven't missed any areas.

If your wall mural is going to have a background color, like a sky or mountain, it's best to paint the whole area where the background is going to be before tracing the image onto the wall. Allow it to dry completely before tracing or any further painting. You can then just paint over the sky or mountain with the colors of the actual image. Taking this step first will ensure that the background will meet smoothly with the rest of the image.

Paint large areas first, then finish with the detailed areas. If you like, once you have all the areas colored in, for an added effect trace all the penciled marks with black paint. If you don't think black would look good, use painting pens of the corresponding colors to get precise stopping points between colors. This step will promise a neater look to all your paint by number wall murals.

Using coloring books to make your own paint by number wall murals is a very easy way to find the perfect image you want. But you can use this method from practically any image you like. Try using the picture from a greeting card or magazine or maybe the cartoon section in the newspaper.
